I’m taking a stab at this year’s NHL Playoff pool, little more of a challenge so please bear with me and if you have any questions please drop me a note (d.fawcett@live.ca) and I’ll be sure to attempt an answer as best I can.
I expect there will be issues or inquiries that I may have not yet addressed in putting this together so all I can say is, they will have to be dealt with as they may arise.
Try to remember, this is just for fun and is a little fundraiser for Mattawa’s Voyageur Curling Club.
Rules
The deadline for entries is Tuesday, Aug 4th, before 7pm!
This Playoff Pool will be divided into 2 sections with the Total Points from each section being added together to give you your overall score.

Side A, Playoff Rounds, Team Predictions (Picks)
You will choose or make your predictions for each series of each round of the playoffs.
The opening round of the playoffs will consist of a qualifying round series, 4 from the Eastern Conference, and 4 from the Western Conference. Each game is worth 1 pt for the teams you choose.
As well as the 8 teams from each conference competing in the qualifying round so to is there a 4 team round robin from each of the conferences top teams’ to decide they’re individual seedings for the second-round pairings.
You will find on Side A the seeding of these teams before the COVID interruption for both conferences. The shaded area to the right of these columns is your predictions as to the placement of these teams after they play a round-robin to decide playoff seeding (2pts for each correct placement prediction). These 2 round-robin series will also be a part of the first round.
Make your choices or predictions for the 8 qualifying series winners (4 from each conference) as well as the 2 robin series’s (placement predictions from each conference) in the 1st Round (there will be no pts for proper positioning, just the 4 teams you believe will advance), 4 teams from each conference will advance from the 2nd Round, then the 2 teams you believe will be the conference finals followed by the conference winners. At the bottom choose the team you believe will be this years’ Stanley Cup Champions.
You will accumulate 1 pt/win for each team you choose to win in each series.
If the team you predict to win a series does not win the series, you still accumulate the 1pt/win for each game they win.
Your accumulated points from this section will be added to your “Player Picks” accumulated points to make up your “Total” score.
Side B, Player Picks
Choose your playoff team from the player lists in each box to build your team (4 defense and 6 forwards).
The accumulated points from your player picks will make up your score for the “Player Picks” section of the pool.
These points will be added to your “Playoff Rounds Team Picks” and will make up your Total Score.
Substitution Option
You can choose 2 players that are not listed on the pool and add them to your choices to make up your team.
To use this option, you will only choose the required number of players in each section + your individual choices. (i.e. if you choose 1 defenseman and 1 forward that are not listed then you would only choose 3 defensemen and 5 forwards from the pool lists.
Substitutions must be the same positions, (i.e defense or forwards).
